Day 2: Lake Tahoe
Enjoy a drive this morning around the June Lake Loop area before visiting Mono Lake and its haunting tufa forms. Then, continue on to Topaz Lake for lunch on your own. After lunch, head to South Lake Tahoe where you’ll visit The Tallac Historic Site, comprised of the Baldwin and Pope estates. The Tahoe Heritage Foundation works with the United States Forest Service to operate programs and events at both estates. Settle into the Lake Tahoe Resort for the next three nights. (B)

Day 3: Peddlewheeler Cruise
Enjoy time on your own for shopping and browsing at the Heavenly Gondola Plaza. Then, take a cruise around Emerald Bay on the Tahoe Queen, a classic paddlewheeler. End the day with a chance to win at the Stateline, Nevada, casinos. (B, L)

Day 4: Truckee / Donner Pass / Squaw Valley
Today you’ll take a leisurely drive around Lake Tahoe to charming and historic Truckee as well as Donner Memorial State Park. Then, take to the road for beautiful mountain vistas of the famous ski area of Squaw Valley before returning to South Lake Tahoe. (B)

Day 5: Placerville / Fresno
Head south to Placerville, immortalized by hometown artist Thomas Kinkade in nostalgic paintings from his imagination. Enjoy shopping time in the quaint boutiques and lunch on your own. The town was named after the Placer gold deposits found in its river beds and hills in the late 1840s, but during the unruly Gold Rush days it carried the name Hangtown for the number of hangings there. Afterward, continue on to Fresno to stay the night with a Farewell Dinner included at the Doubletree Hotel & Conference Center Fresno. (B,D)

Day 6:  Waterworks Museum / Pyramid Lake / Home
Stop at The Waterworks Museum overlooking Pyramid Lake. Then cross over the “Grapevine” on the way home. (B)
