Day 1: Casa Grande, AZ
First stop Casa Grande for a Welcome Dinner and overnight at the Holiday Inn. (D) Day 2: El Paso, TX
Put on your cowboy hat and travel to Texas for one night in the famous border town of El Paso at the Embassy Suites. (B)

Day 3: San Antonio
Continue on to two nights in historic San Antonio, one of the most romantic cities in America. Stay at the Menger Hotel where Teddy Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders from around the Bar. (B)

Day 4: San Antonio
After a tour of The Alamo, head to the Farmers Market Plaza for browsing time in the Mexican “El Mercado,” selling everything from embroidered dresses to hand-tooled leather accessories. Market Square’s working artists, musicians, and dancers create a festive cultural atmosphere. Cap off the day with a float-trip on the Paseo del Rio, followed by dinner at the Menger. (B,D)

Day 5: Galveston, TX
After arriving in Galveston, an island city jutting into the Gulf of Mexico, take a ride on the “Strand” and travel along Broadway to see the historic 1800s homes. Spend a night in the land of pirates and palms. (B)

Day 6: New Orleans, LA
Drive through “Cajun Country” on your way to fabulous New Orleans for two nights at the Landmark Hotel. Experience the sights and sounds of the French Quarter. (B)

Day 7: New Orleans, LA
Morning narrated drive through the Garden District to see the mansions decked out with spring flowers, and pay a visit to the St. Louis Cemetery with its above-ground tombs. This evening, you will be wined and dined at the famous “Court of Two Sisters.” (B,D)

Day 8: Mobile, AL Travel toward Mobile with a stop at the magnificent Bellingrath Gardens, one of springtime’s most glorious shows. After lunchtime, it’s a short jaunt to the colorful Carnival Museum with its superb collection of Mardi Gras costumes. Spend the night at the Hampton Inn. (B)

Day 9: Natchez, MS
Drive through Plantation Country to Natchez for two nights in the Old South. See some of the lovely antebellum homes with a local guide before checking into the Natchez Grand Hotel for two nights. (B)

Day 10: Natchez, MS
It’s a short drive to the Frogmore Cotton Plantation to experience “Plantation Culture–Then and Now” with costumed guides. Dinner this evening will be at the Rolling River Bistro in Natchez. (B,D)

Day 11: Vicksburg, MS / Shrevport, LA
Continue the short distance to Vicksburg where a narrator will join you to tell about the Civil War Siege of Vicksburg. After lunchtime, you’ll head on to Shreveport for an overnight at the Holiday Inn. (B)

Day 12: Abilene, TX
You are homeward-bound as you head through the Dallas area to Abilene. Spend the night at the Elegante Hotel. (B)

Day 13: Carlsbad, NM
You’ll see one of nature’s geological wonders today when you visit Carlsbad Caverns. Ride the elevator down to the Big Room, the largest single cave chamber in North America, with its awe-inspiring cave formations. Overnight at the Stevens Inn in the idyllic little town of Carlsad. (B)

Day 14: Tucson, AZ
You’re on your way to the Reid Park Hotel in Tucson with a Farewell Dinner this evening. (B,D)
